The style frames I designed for Pearl Jam's "Daughter" were meant to breathe a new life into the meaning of the song. I wanted to revamp and reimagine their narrative and gear it toward many different audiences to ensure that this message lives on forever. By adopting a photo collage style the viewer can almost take a look and add their own image to the piece putting themselves into the shoes of the main character. Using hand lettering photography I wanted to emphasize just how raw the narrative is and how it feels and speaks like a diary entry.
For me, the lyrics of the song are integral to the video. Their textured feel and tactile essence make the message tangible. The infusion of the tactile into the digital realm captured the timelessness of Pearl Jam's music as well as the timelessness of the struggle depicted in this particular song.
